My Life Puzzle
Maya Angelou wrote “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” This quote relates to me because I know I should not stop in my education. High School has taught me many things, but I know if I want to succeed in life I should continue with my education and learn more things. Obtaining a higher education should be important to everyone not just to certain people. In my case obtaining an education is important to me because I know I can be someone of importance and make a change to the people around me and at my community.
I would like to study Mathematics and obtain a Bachelor degree and as my minor I want to have a degree on Business Administration. I had always enjoyed teaching other individuals; this is the reason why I want to obtain my credentials for single subject teaching. If the circumstances allow me to come back to Lindsay and teach at my hometown High School I would willingly jump to the opportunity. I would like to encourage students that come from low income family to continue with their education. This would make me feel ecstatic knowing that I was able to change a person’s point of view in education just like many of my learner facilitators have done to me.
I am part of a five member family. My parents yearly report nineteen thousand dollars in their tax reports this amount has always been our maximum. Thanks to God and my parents I have had the necessary such as a plate of food every day and clothing. This does not change the fact that I have had to go through many obstacles with my family, especially since it has sometimes interfered with my education. Once I started High School many of these obstacles created rough rocks in front of my path. There have been times that I have to stay till six in the afternoon at school to finish all of my class assignments. I know the lack of internet at home should not stop me from accomplishing my goals. This obstacle that I have faced throughout my four years at High School has only made me stronger. I know that I should finish all of my assignments sooner since I don’t have the necessary tools at home.
I myself have experience how difficult it is to work in the fields. This type of labor has been what has provided the necessary items to me and my family. Thanks to this humble work I am where I am right now. Both of my parents have worked in agriculture. They have worked in the fields since they migrated to the United States looking for a better future, or as many say they came looking for the “American Dream.” My parents are my biggest motivation in life, for the fact that they work under hard circumstances to provide the best they can for my two sisters and me. I dream that one day my parents would retire and just enjoy their time here. I would like to provide them financially like they have done to me for the past years. The motivation of succeeding academically has always been because of my parents I want to make them proud and for them to see that I can make it and obtain a career that does not include my backbone or my parent’s backbone being exposed to a hot sun or to cold weather.
